PBR Staff Writer Published 06 October 2009

Developing suitable approach to scale up technology transfer program to commercialize the product

Particle Sciences has revealed that Dow Corning has partnered with the company to develop technology for its product development project.

The company said that it is leveraging its extensive experience and expertise to evaluate a number of technologies deemed suitable for the complex performance characteristics of particular product.

The company claims that developing a suitable approach will lead directly to a fast track scale up and technology transfer program to commercialize the product.

Bruce Frank, director of project management for Particle Sciences, said: "This is a little outside our normal focus of pharmaceutical development but the technological approach is perfectly analogous. We expect to provide a novel and robust solution that allows Dow Corning to develop a product that will benefit its customers."

Dow Corning provides performance-enhancing solutions to serve the needs of more than 25,000 customers worldwide. The company offers more than 7,000 products and services via its Dow Corning and Xlameter brands.

Particle Sciences provides services which include the development of novel encapsulation and drug delivery technologies including drug-device combination products, nanoparticle production and characterization, cGMP analytical services and clinical drug product manufacturing for phase I and II clinical trials.
